Thinking about small things

As I carefully descended the stairs to the train station, because of a knee that felt like it wanted to give out, an express train to my stop was in the station. There must have been a look on my face, because there were no audible words leaving my mouth to say 'hold the door' because it is New York and everyone just wants to get home, and I understand that. However, there was a lady standing in the door that extended her foot just as the door was closing to delay the train by two seconds allowing me to board. I said thank you, and expressed with my eyes also the gratitude I felt, knowing I will get home a bit earlier. It is three days later and I am still thinking about that small act of kindness. I wonder if the world would be better if we were all 1% kinder? I want to bake a cake but eggs are a bit pricey or are they? I have been paying a lot for a dozen eggs for a while now, just because this brand is my favorite and this is the least I have paid for them, I have paid almost $10 before. Don't tell my sister, she would say all eggs are the same, I beg to differ. My family thinks i'm bougie and fussy about food. Food is life and you are what you eat. Anyway, as a mom looking at how expensive food is, it makes me wonder if there is more to this, than a strain of 'Bird Flu". Just the other day two eggs broke and I couldn't use them, I winced a bit as I knew the cost. So if eggs are expensive, will the chicken become expensive also, the old riddle of which came first.
